Books I Recommend to Others the Most

This post was created for a Top Ten Tuesday prompt in the spring, but I never got around to actually posting it. So here you go - a list of the books I recommend the most to others! Audiobook lovers, I have some great suggestions for you.

The Martian by Andy Weir (SciFi)

An astronaut fights for his life as the rest of the world watches in this phenomenal science fiction novel. This is the first audiobook that truly hooked me from the opening sentence. I could not stop listening to it. In fact, I would leave for work early just so I could keep listening to it in the car.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer (Historical)

British author Juliet is ready to write her next novel about a book club held in Guernsey during the German occupation. Not to be dramatic or anything, but I have literally listened to this audiobook every year since reading it. It's just full of so much fascinating history and beautiful characters.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey (Romance)

Socialite Piper Bellinger finds herself falling in love with a fisherman when she is exiled to a small town in the Pacific Northwest after one of her stunts goes too far in this delightful adult romantic comedy. The perfect beach read with equal measures humor and steam.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (Fantasy)

Enslaved assassin Celaena Sardothien agrees to compete in the King's championship for Prince Dorian, but her shot at freedom becomes compromised when the other competitors begin being picked off one by one. One of my all time favorite series. This first book gets it all started, but it's the books later in the series that make for a satisfying payoff.

Carrie by Stephen King (Horror)

Traumatized and bullied teenager Carrie White begins developing frightening power, resulting in deadly consequences to the citizens of her small town in this horror classic novel by Stephen King. I love the use of mixed media in this story to get a well-rounded picture of the town as well as Carrie's personal perspective on the events.

Sadie by Courtney Summers (Mystery Thriller)

Sadie goes on a quest to avenge her sister’s murder, while true crime podcaster West McCray goes on a quest to find Sadie one year after she disappears. This is perfect for true crime fans and mystery lovers.

Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (LGBTQ+ Romance Comedy)

Two boys from political families across the pond fall in love in this amazing new adult romance novel. Charming enemies-to-lovers story featuring two adorable guys.

The Garden Spell by Sarah Addison Allen (Magical Realism)

The Waverly sisters come to terms with their heritage, finding acceptance and love in each other and their legacy in this beautiful magical realism novel. The first audiobook I ever finished in my life, and the one that has s special place in my heart all these years later.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (Classic Romance)

Set in 19th century England, the story focuses on Elizabeth Bennet and her family as they navigate the social norms of their times. An excellent romance interwoven with social commentary featuring a layered and lovable cast of characters.

My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite (Thriller)

Korede starts rethinking her decision to be her sister’s clean up crew (aka disposing of the evidence and bodies of her sister's victims) in this fascinating adult thriller. Thrilling, short, and character-driven - need I say more?
