Stella and her best friend, Luka, agree to pretend date so she can earn the money she needs to save her business.
Have you ever read a book and wanted so badly to like it, but it didn't happen? That's me with this book. I kept waiting for the magic to suck me into the story, but it never pulled me under. Most of my issues stemmed from Stella and Luka's friendship. Why did they consider themselves "best friends" when they rarely had an actual conversation with any depth until their pretend romance? How is it they didn't know who they were each dating (or if they were dating anyone at all)? My guy friends and I have better communication than these two. It just...it made no sense to me. This book could have been wrapped up with one conversation.

"Hey, I'm in love with you."
"Hey, me too. Let's be together."

Friends-to-lovers and short time frame romances rarely work for me so perhaps this was doomed from the start. If those two tropes are some you enjoy, you might like this book. Don't let my humbug attitude deter you from a good read!
