The second installment of the Fate and Flame series finds Romeria and Zander fleeing the capital after the coup to escape imprisonment and death.

Guys, I am absolutely in love with Romeria. Homegirl could go kill everyone and I'd be like "they deserved it." Despite her losing so much, she is constantly striving to be a better person and leader for the people around her. Does she have a bit of "Mary Sue" complex? Yea, sure, but it works for me. Zander is a good counterpart to her. Their relationship struggles are an intoxicating blend of outside circumstances and conflicted desires. While I wish we had gotten a teensy tiny bit more smut, I appreciate that it's not oversaturating the book like some other fantasy romances of late. This does switch between Zander and Romeria's POV, which helps keep the character development and plot moving forward. This world is utterly compelling. I'm facinated by the other planes of existances and by the god/desses plans with the world. I can't wait for the next installment, which will unfortunately most likely not be here until next year.
