As Maddie and Ryan attempt to reconcile after the events of the engagement announcement, their fathers' plot to obtain their inheritance money continues to unfold in this steamy follow up to Mad World.

I can't begin to explain how excited I felt to read this book! Unlike Mad World, this book shifts the point-of-view between Ryan and Maddie rather than only staying in Maddie's perspective. It leads to a richer story telling experience as we come to learn more about Ryan's inner thoughts, particularly the root of his distrust with others. While I enjoyed the uptick in quality smut (including light BDSM), I do wish it had less rather than more. I had the same issue with Jennifer L. Armentrout's From Blood and Ash series - sex scenes inserted every other chapter interrupts the flow of the story and desensitizes me to the experience.

The storyline is ridiculously fun. It does deal with triggering topics such as domestics violence, human trafficking, drug abuse/addiction, bullying, and murder/death so be forewarned before reading this book. While I did not mind most of the subject matter, I did find myself uncomfortable with the school bullying scenes (particularly when the bullying is shown in a positive manner). Perhaps my own personal experience with bullying colors my views of those scenes. Otherwise, it certainly kept my attention for the 600+ pages - I legit read it in one day. I'm looking forward to the next book in the trilogy, which should be out sometime before the end of the year.
