When down-on-her-luck former beauty queen Nova Morgan returns to her hometown after the death of her mother, she discovers her lackluster one night stand from several years back, former NFL quarterback Ronan Smith, lives next door.

This book's cover and synopsis reminded me of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series, which I absolutely adored. Unfortunately, my expectations may have been too high. Nothing in this book hooked my attention - I read it because I was bored, not because I was interested. Ronan and Nova's chemistry was rather lackluster despite the intriguing premise. Other than Nova's sister, the secondary characters were one-dimensional. If sports romances or fake dating are tropes you enjoy, then you may like this book.
