In this addictive and twisty contemporary romance, trailer park Madison switches lives with her wealthy twin sister Madelaine for the summer, but their plans go awry when Madelaine dies unexpectedly.

*Stares into the void* I am at an impasse here. On one hand, I could not put this book down - McBride's books are seriously addictive. I had to binge read it in one sitting because I could not wait to see what happened next. Madison was delightful as she transitioned into the wealthy setting and crazy hijinks of Madelaine. It's easy to root for her as she discovers all of the lies and problems of her new lifestyle. I loved the friendship she builds with Bex as well as her relationships with all of the guys in general.

On the other hand, I'm not sold on "bully" romances no matter how well intentioned the bullying. Ryan took some liberties with Madison that I have a hard time condoning. While he does somewhat redeem himself as the story progresses, his initial actions still left a bad taste in my mouth. Ryan and Madison do have an epic enemies-to-lovers story with plenty of angst and steam to please as long as you can get past the toxic behavior in the beginning.

The ending is a wild, addictive, and crazy train ride. It ends on a HUGE cliffhanger! Honestly, I wish I had waited to read it until the series was finished - I'm not sure how I'm going to wait for the second installment (or what the third one will entail). I will say this series' staying power is going to be 100% decided on Ryan's character development. While I can accept his initial behavior with Madison, I do not think I could continue to see it moving forward.
